December 4th – International Hooking Day

Last Tuesday a few of us went to the International Hooking Day Celebration in Williamstown, Ontario. There were 80 hookers from  guilds all over the region – Saint Henri,  Beaconsfield, Old Forge in Ottawa, Brockville, …. I can not even remember them all!  We had a great day with treats, lunch and wonderful vendors! The day was fun! Saint Henri had a table of our homemade hooks, kits, recycled wool bundles and other odds and ends to sell. We raise an additional $245 for our May Show fund.  Don’t miss it next year!

Thanks Chris. I hope I can go next year.

October Meeting

Hi Everyone,
I hope you're all enjoying the cooler Fall weather. This month we gave out the surprise bags for our annual mug rug exchange. There are a few extras, so if you didn't get one today, we will have them at the next meeting. Each bag contains three items that must be used as part of your mug rug. You can create your own design. The fun part of the challenge is that you must feature the items (all three of them) in your design.

We also had some finished rugs. Chris finished two Christmas trees!

I finally finished hooking my silk gauze rug.

Enjoy the rest of the month and hope to see you at the November meeting.

Cold Water Dyeing Workshop

Hi Everyone.

I am posting the information for the November dye workshop. This is a fun and easy way to dye your fibres and fabrics without having to use your stove. I will be posting examples on the blog, so stay tuned.

Cold Water Dye Workshop
Hello Everyone,

The new guild season will begin with our first meeting on September 8th, 2018. The new schedule can be viewed on the Calendrier/Calendar page.

In 2019, we will have our bi-annual exhibition. After evaluating the rising costs and limited visibility of doing the show at Centre Récréatif, Culturel et Sportif Saint-Zotique, we (the executives) made the decision to find a new venue for our exhibition. After lots of searching we decided that Meteque Atelier d'Art would be the best and most reasonably priced location. You can visit their website at This location will cost the guild more but we felt that having the show in a better location was worth the extra cost. We have also planned a series of fund raising activities. We hope that this new venue will get everyone excited and motivated for the upcoming show. Details will be provided at the first meeting on September 8th.

Happy hooking, and we are looking forward to seeing you all on the 8th.

Rug Hooking with grade 11 students.

Here are some photos I took while introducing some grade 11 students to rug hooking. They all created their own patterns. Some worked from their imaginations, others from favourite vacation photos! Most were finished for hanging in hoops. A few opted to make cushions.
Our March meeting was also the annual Carolyn Mungall Mug Rug Exchange. This year's theme was Monochromatic.

Participants and the mug rugs they made:
Top row: Maureen, Danielle
Middle row: Carolyn, Kathleen, Colette
Bottom row: Joanne, Rosemary, Chris

I'm already looking forward to next year's exchange. Happy hooking everyone.
Hi Everyone,
On February 24&25 we had our annual rug hooking retreat. It was held at Ermitage Sainte-Croix, and we were joined by several members of the Beaconsfield Rug Hooking Guild. Here are just a few pictures. Everyone had a wonderful time and we hope to do it again next year.

Show and tell on the last day.

A group picture. Chris was the photographer.

This is the view from the cafeteria. I tried and failed to capture the beauty of the sunset.
